how to add layers in the photos ?

In the main menu, go to "Layer-<Add Layer". Then, in order to switch between layers, go to "Windows-<Dockable Dialogs-<Layers".

I think Gimp is amazing but if you are a beginner I suggest using hxxp: www. getpaint. net / paint. net
it is a lot easier to use and once you master that it will be easier to master gimp
