Actually all larger production house use maya mostly.
If u know maya & max for creating a movie maya is going to be the no 1 in the list.
But also for some effects in spider man 3 they used max.
So finally it depends upon u to chose which 1.
Recent tinkerbell, monster vs alien made with maya .
