In Photoshop the Rectangular Marquee Tool is used to make selections on your image, in a rectangular shape. Just simply click the tool then drag it to the image to make a selection
I have there an image below that shows the use of the Rectangular Marquee tool. As you can see i have background image there and use the Rectangular Marquee tool to make a selection on that portion or will just say Cut that portion of the background in a rectangular shape.
