The only Softimage software I'm aware of is XSI, which is very different from Photoshop.
Softimage XSI is a 3D modeling and animation program, which allows you to create and animate 3D models, such as what are found in video games and movies.
Photoshop is used more for 2D artwork, and can be used to create textures to add to the 3D models created in Softimage.
