i created a 3D text from cinema 4d and saved it as c4d filetype, 3sdmax, etc. And when i imported the files in After Effects, I got this error. .
"Can't import file >filename< unsupported filetype or extension" (0::1)
Is there some plug-ins or steps that i missed?
Im new to these programs. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Basically, the answer to whether you can import 3d models into AE CS3 is "No", with the exception of things like camera data and the like. You cannot import 3d objects directly and manipulate them, unfortunately. You need to render the objects in Cinema4d and import them into AE CS3.
The good news is: you can export an AE composition directly from C4d, which can be used in AE. Render all the elements to a multi-channel / multi-layer psd file, or render to a After Effects composition file. For more info, read the info on this in the manual.
For more info, have a look at the help CS3 help file for what's possible relating to 3d import:

Now, the above is true when working in AE CS3 - in AE CS4 you may import photoshop 3d layers, which DO contain actual 3d objects, and are manipulatable in After Effects. However, you will need to import the 3d models into photoshop CS4 first, and import those psd files in After Effects CS4. Quite powerful.
Another option is invigorator - this allows you to import 3d models into After Effects. Very nice for logo work.
