how to save animation as a video in autodesk maya & 3ds max?

I make animation in autodesk maya & 3ds max but i don't know that how to save as video.

In 3ds max you need to render the animation (from the render menu).
I can't remember how you do it in maya, but it's similar.

3D Max, you have to open your render dialog setup window, and in 'save file", select avi as the format. That will render out as an avi. You can also do quickime, etc...

Maya, depends on which version of the software you have. The new versions of maya I believe versions 2008 and up, have the option to render out to an avi as well, which is also in your render setup window. The older versions you have to render out still images and compile them in an external compositing software such as adobe premier, final cut, after effects, etc....
