i downoaded models in 3d studio max i think they will be used in 3dmax 9 they didn't what should i do ?

Go to this Autodesk 3D tutor. It explains everything and more. Very useful to have around. Technically, the models are importable depending on what version you have of 3D max.

What is 3dmax 9? I know of Autodesk 3ds Max, formerly 3D Studio MAX.
What is the file .extention you downloaded? May be you have to import it?
