Where can i get a image map of the night sky or universe? - ManuelHayse - 01-22-2011

I would like to wrap an image map on a sky_sphere and thereby have a realistic looking night sky in my POVRay images. Thanks

That depends on what resolution you want. There are no high resolution image maps of the entire sky. Starry Night has a composite that is generated/rendered by software on the fly but most other planetariums paint the sky n the fly by co-ordinates and object type.

There are lots of hemispherical images available - but they tend to be somewhat distorted and very low resolution.
